The Franklin Electric E-Series 20FE05P4-2W115 is a 1/2 HP, 115V mid-suction submersible pump designed for filtered or treated effluent applications where higher pressure or longer pumping distances are required.

Franklin Electric E-Series 1/2 HP Effluent Pump

The Franklin Electric E-Series 20FE05P4-2W115 is a high-head submersible pump designed to move treated effluent farther and against substantially more head pressure than a conventional sump-style effluent pump.

This makes it well suited for aerobic treatment systems that discharge to spray irrigation, drip irrigation, mound systems, or other pressure distribution applications.

The pump combines a proven Franklin Electric submersible motor with a four-stage hydraulic pump assembly. The staged design develops up to 152 feet of shutoff head while maintaining the performance needed for high-pressure treated-effluent applications.

Unlike bottom-suction sump-style pumps, the E-Series uses a mid-suction screened intake. It is intended for filtered or treated wastewater applications rather than pumping raw sewage or solids.

What is a mid-suction septic pump?

A mid-suction pump draws liquid through a screened intake located above the bottom of the pump assembly. This design is commonly used for treated or filtered effluent applications where the pump must generate substantially more pressure than a conventional sump-style effluent pump.

Can this pump be used with an aerobic septic sprinkler system?

Yes, this type of high-head effluent pump is commonly used to move treated wastewater from an aerobic treatment system to spray irrigation or sprinkler disposal systems. The pump must still be properly sized for the required flow and total dynamic head of the specific installation.

Can this pump be used for drip irrigation?

It can be used in properly designed treated-effluent drip systems where its performance matches the required operating pressure and flow. Filtration and pressure requirements vary significantly between drip systems, so confirm the system design before selecting the pump.

Does this pump have a built-in check valve?

Yes. Franklin Electric's 10 and 20 GPM E-Series pumps include a removable built-in check valve.

Can this pump handle raw sewage or solids?

No. This pump is intended for filtered or treated effluent. It is not a sewage solids-handling pump or grinder pump. Using the pump in an application containing excessive solids can damage the pump or restrict the intake screen.

Does a 20 GPM rating mean I will always get 20 GPM?

No. Pump flow changes with system pressure and total dynamic head. Elevation, pipe length and diameter, fittings, valves, sprinkler nozzles, filters, and other restrictions all affect actual flow. Pump selection should be based on the required operating point rather than the nominal GPM rating alone.

Can I replace another 1/2 HP septic pump with this one?

Possibly, but horsepower alone does not determine pump compatibility. Two 1/2 HP pumps can have very different flow and pressure curves. Confirm voltage, flow, total dynamic head, discharge connection, float controls, and treatment-system requirements before replacing another pump.
